Wow. Three of us were shooting Monday morning at the 25 yd range and we had a nice chat with Jim. He even gave a guest of mine some good shooting tips (I learned some things as well!) and he was an all around nice guy. He didn't give us any sh1t....because WE were following the rules.... Keep up the good work, Jim!

Well said Scott. I don't get out to the range often,or to the meetings so I'm not sure if I've met Jim or not. I'm terrible with names but remember faces better. I wish he had been there last month when I had a "run in" with a few "youngsters" that obviously had no firearms safety training at all, that or they just did'nt care. Loaded shotgun swinging around behind the firing line and being pointed at me and others. This was all ok though "cause the safeties on dude".

This forum is not for the airing of grievances with LFGC RSO's or others. Lets keep the decorum on a positive track.mmmkay?
It is not ok for any Club Officer, Board Member or RSO to be off-putting. There is no other aspect more important than Range Safety and as Officers, Board and RSO's, we need to maintain a highly visible, approachable and even tempered attitude to deal with club members. Members need to know they can count on the leadership, instead of feeling alienated or having their blood pressure go up when they have to ask a question.
Finally, my suspicion is that the initial post made is by one of our younger members. Perhaps he (yeah you,) didn't mean to post as harshly as it read to the eye...(benefit of the doubt here) but, if you want some respect, you have to learn respect and I find the whole post rather "disrespectful" to be perfectly frank.
Jason, we have a lot of older "dudes" in the club, who don't particularly care for you because you are a kid. Lord knows I try. So, work on those posts, be nice to us old people and you will do fine.

Hey if someone is pointing a loaded gun at you you should say something no question about it that's a safety violation of the most grievous kind.

jim kicks ass and really knows what he's talking about. i haven't had the pleasure of talking to him other than at meetings. i would love to run into him at the range and get a few pointers. i am sure he has a quick solution for the 100m conversion thing, for example. that said, what is the point of joining a club if you don't have enough open mind to learn from other members? there's no such thing as too safe or too accurate. if all you want to do is shoot like a movie gangster in the 'hood and burn through piles of ammo just go find a sand pit in hooksett for free.........

Why is it that talking about another member generates more hits than any other site? SeniorGunner

Anyone that is upset enough about the present situation can always change it by standing up for that position at the next election. Senior-Gunner

I moderate on another board so I have some hands on experience. A problem with these type of boards is you get folks dropping a bomb and then sitting back to watch the explosion. It is great to say that we should all be able to say what ever we want but in the end you have to have some common respect for your fellow members.

Scott:
You are way off base. Feel free to package it or couch it in any terms you wish. No censorship was done or imposed, nor was any intended. I do the best I can here
I didn't see the use of this board as a vehicle to trash others especially when one can do so anonymously and thats nothing but pure cowardice, in my view. If a person wants to be critical, let them take ownership. (And that is just my view, not a rule).
Thus, I am not clear how asking for a little consideration rises to the level of censorship. Censorship would be to ban somebody, remove posts, shut the board down...etc. direct actions...exactly what I have seen on other boards I have participated in. Yet, none of that has been done here.
And just so you know, this board is a restricted board....Only for LFGC members.
And, as for "anything goes" it is a sad day when I have to expand on that. Reasonable people understand that even in that context there are always limits.
Obviously, and without question, I am going to delete any post that invites unwanted Law Enforcement attention, Criminal in nature and those that could be perceived as threats to the chief executive of the nation. I don't think it unreasonable to moderate the board in such a fashion that prevents negative or adverse results from befalling the Club.
Folks are entitled to opinions and postings, no matter how caustic, ascerbic or objectionable those posts might be. Inversely, others have the right (no matter who they are) to object, or ask that they not make such crappy posts.
